2010 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

January

• Banshee's Showcase team will participate in the Rising Stars College Showcase in Plantation, Florida.

• Banshee's 14U team participated in the ASA Eastern National Qualifier in Williamsport, PA finishing 3rd out of 10 teams.  See highlights under Team Links/14U/ Tournament Information.

• Banshee's 10U and 12U teams begin winter training.  The teams meet weekly in preparation for the 2010 travel season.

• The Banshee's announce the 2010 Tournaments it will be hosting in Horsham. Click on underlined link for registration details.

• May 1st & 2nd, 2010 - PONY 10U & 12U National Qualifier

• June 5th & 6th, 2010 - PONY 14U National Qualifier

• July 10th & 11th, 2010 - ASA 14U Richard Millhouse NQ

• October 2nd & 3rd, 2010 - ASA 18U 2011 National Qualifier.

• Banshee's 14U team will be participating in the ASA President's weekend Invitational tournament at Wide World of Sports, Orlando, Florida.

 BANSHEE STORY

It all began back in 1987 when a fellow by the name of John Burke decided to start a softball team that would expose the girls to a higher level of softball then the local league's could. So he decided to start a travel 16 & under team but could not decide what to call this new softball team.

After listening to the way the girls cheered and in tribute of his Irish heritage he decided on the Banshee’s. The actual name comes from Gaelic folklore. A Banshee is an evil female spirit whose scream signifies death.

The Banshee’s added a 14 & under team in 1988 and stayed a two-team organization for quite some time. In 1995 Mr. Burke asked Bob Sadowl to start a 12 and under team and a third age group was born. In 1998 Lou James became the 10 and under coach and a fourth age group was born. In 2001 Ron Morris became the 18 and under coach and a fifth age group was born.

The 2010 season will mark the 23rd year the Banshees’ will have a 14 and under team, 16th year the Banshees' will have a 12 and under team, 11th year the Banshees' will have a 10 and under team, and the 10th year the Banshees’ will have  a 18 and under team.

Try-outs normally begin around the 3rd week in August of each year for the Fall, Winter, Spring and summer of the next year.  Try-outs will be published on this site at the beginning of August 2011.  If you have interest in our Banshee's program, contact the head coach for the age bracket you have interest to see if openings exist.
