Happy New Year!!
It is time for all of our teams to get busy with
agility/strength/conditioning, team defensive practice, hitting, and
pitcher/catcher work-outs. Our Banshee's season will be starting in
less than 90 days and we want to be ready for the competition.
- Congratulations to Valerie Sadowl on
signing her National Letter of Intent with the University of Connecticut and
to Jackie Dipietro on signing her National Letter of Intent with Seton Hall
University. Valerie and Jackie played in our organization for
many years and are exceptional athletes. Valerie and Jackie comprise
the middle infield for the Hatboro-Horsham Hatters and were key contributors
as Juniors in the team winning the 2011 AAAA State Championship. We
wish both young ladies much success during their senior year with the
Hatters and as they pursue their dream of playing collegiate Division 1
softball next year.
- Mr. Bob Sadowl, past President of the
Banshee's Fastpitch Softball organization and coach of many award winning
teams within the organization during the years 1995 through 2009, was
awarded the Distinguished Service Award at the organizational holiday party.
Bob received special recognition from our current teams and parents for his
many years of outstanding leadership and service in developing many young
ladies of our community into exceptional student athletes. Thanks Coach Bob
for spending your free time with us, teaching us, inspiring us, encouraging
us and challenging us.

THE
BANSHEE STORY
It all began back in 1987 when a fellow by the
name of John Burke decided to start a softball team that would expose the girls
to a higher level of softball then the local little league could. So he decided
to start a travel 16 & under team but could not decide what to call this new
softball team.
After listening to the way the girls cheered and
in tribute of his Irish heritage, he decided on the Banshee’s. The actual name
comes from Gaelic folklore. A Banshee is an evil female spirit whose scream
signifies death. The Banshee’s added a 14 & under team in 1988 and stayed
a two-team organization for quite some time. When Mr. Burke became the Varsity
head coach of the Hatboro Horsham High School softball team the Banshee’s became
a way to prepare the younger lady’s to play at the High School varsity level. In
1995, Mr. Burke asked Bob Sadowl to start a 12 and under team and a third age
group was born. In 1998, Lou James became the 10 and under coach and a fourth
age group was born. In 2001, Ron Morris became the 18 and under coach and a
fifth age group was born.
Although some years the Banshees’ were unable to
field a team at a particular age bracket, there was always enough interest and
teams to keep the organization going.
The Banshee's organization is now in its 25th
consecutive season as an organization and continues to grow. We currently
have teams at the 10U, two 12U, and 14U.
Do you have what it takes to be a Banshee's travel
softball player? If interested, check for the appropriate age bracket
coach and come on out to a practice.
TCU Baseball 2011: Quiet Confidence
PLEASE ...SHE'S JUST A LITTLE
GIRL
She stood at the plate
With her heart pounding fast
The bases are loaded
The die has been cast
Mom and Dad cannot help her
She stands all alone
A hit at this moment would
Send the team home
The ball nears the plate
She swings and she misses
There is a groan from the crowd
With some boos and hisses
A thoughtless voice cries
"Strike the bum out"
Tears fill her eyes
The game is no longer fun
Remember she's just a little girl
Who stands all alone
So open your hearts
And give her a break
For it's moments like this
A woman you can make
Keep this in mind
When you hear someone forget
She's just a little girl
And not a woman yet!!!
